Tamborine’s Remy and Zara Clowes are eagerly awaiting their first day of prep at Cedar Creek State School.
The fraternal twins born on October 29, 2013 cannot wait to step into the classroom and embark on their educational journeys.
Mother Merita Clowes said caring for twins was often a challenging balancing act but their transition to school would be one occasion where the child stood to benefit from having such a close companion.
“I feel a bit better that they will have a friend there,” she said.
“They are excited but they don't know what they're getting themselves into.
“I don't think they realise they are about to be without mummy every day.”

Mrs Clowes said the five year olds had been well-prepared for their introduction to institutional learning by Cedar Creek's outstanding Koala Joeys program.
“It gives the kids an amazing opportunity to meet the other children,” she said.
“They also learn some of the basic skills like listening and following directions.
“It was a great program.”
Mrs Clowes, vice-president of Brisbane Multiple Births Association Southside, said she would not have been able to get the twins to this milestone point in their lives without the support and practical advice from members.
A social worker and mother of three, after giving birth to Ashton three years ago, she said caring for two or more babies at one time posed many logistical challenges ranging from moving around at the shops every day to ensuring each child was given equal attention and opportunity.
“I really couldn't have made it through without someone to talk to…,” she said.
“I would definitely recommend parents expecting a multiple birth get in touch.
“I’m still meeting regularly with a group of six mothers.
“Dads are also encouraged to attend any events.
“There is also a private closed Facebook group for dads called Multiple Dads Sanctuary.
“It is a safe place for multiple dads to share.”
Brisbane Multiple Births Association Southside offers peer support and friendship, as well as information sessions and tips for parents expecting multiple births of two or more.
