Support for veterans
AS WE head into a new year, we want to remind Australian veterans and their families that there is support available if they need it.
At Mates4Mates we provide support and rehabilitation services to any current and ex-serving Defence Force members with physical or psychological injuries, and their families.
Whether you need support or rehabilitation for a physical injury, or you’re experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress, it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone.
We offer psychology appointments at our family recovery centres or via phone, rehabilitation adventures or sessions with an exercise physiologist, employment support, and social connection activities.
We know that veterans can face a variety of challenges as they transition to civilian life, and we’re here to make that transition a little easier.
In 2018, we facilitated 4175 psychology appointments, provided 13,892 physical rehabilitation and wellbeing contacts, and fostered 8062 social connection contacts.
If you need support, prioritise your health and wellbeing and get in touch on 1300 4 MATES or visit mates4mates.org to find out more about our services.

Give hope through education
EDUCATION is one of the keys to a happy and successful life. So the fact that one in five Australian children are starting school developmentally vulnerable due to the effects of poverty should trouble us all.
Many adults who find themselves trapped by their circumstances aspire to study a qualification that will help them find work but can’t afford all that is required, so their hopes remain unfulfilled.
When you’re struggling with the rising cost of living, the dream of improving your circumstances or that of your children through education can seem impossible.
But with a caring hand up, struggling families and individuals can not only engage in life changing educational opportunities, but have the chance to thrive at school and lift themselves out of poverty.
Vinnies Back to School and Study Appeal aims to provide that hand up to local families who struggle with the cost of sending their children to school and for Queenslanders in need who desire to better their lives through study that leads to employment.
With your support we can ensure no child in Queensland goes to school without uniforms, school shoes, exercise books and stationery. With your support we can provide people with the chance to study at tertiary level and transform their circumstances.
Every dollar donated to the Vinnies Back to School and Study Appeal will go towards life changing educational support for Queenslanders in need across our state.
Donations can be made via vinnies.org.au or by phoning 13 18 12.
