BEDS R US Browns Plains has risen from the ashes of voluntary administration after eight south-east Queensland stores closed in December.
The owner of 10 south-east Queensland Beds R Us stores, Brad Kippen, stepped in to take ownership of the Browns Plains store on December 20.
Mr Kippen told the Jimboomba Times he went out of his way to honour every layby and deposit put down during the temporary period of uncertainty.
“When (the eight Beds R US stores) went under it was quite a harrowing thing,” Mr Kippen said.
“Me and my business partner Dave (decided to) make a go of it and open (Browns Plains) back up.

Mr Kippen said some staff would be saved and talked up the Browns Plains area and surrounding suburbs.
“We retained the manager Marty and a staff member from Capalaba with a view to help out more as we grow,” he said.
“We are cautious and don’t want to over commit….We go store by store, get them established and look to grow.”
Other stores which went into administration included Capalaba, Kippa-Ring, Lawnton, Mitchelton, Morayfield, North Lakes and Virginia.
Mr Kippen said it was his ambition to bring the Capalaba store “back to life” but would be unlikely to take on any affected north side businesses.
“Maybe not on the north side, but certainly the south side,” he said.
“I hope we can restore consumer confidence in the brand and pump out Australian quality mattresses.”
Beds R Us stores owned by Mr Kippen include Macgregor, Helensvale, Bundall, Logan Hypderdome, Noosa, Burleigh Heads and Runaway Bay.
There are 81 independently owned Beds R US stores Australia wide.
