The Jimboomba Bushrangers Green enter the Christmas Break sitting comfortably atop the Logan District Cricket Association Division One table.
The Bushrangers find themselves 12 points clear of their nearest rival, Loganholme Cool Boys despite losing a torrid top of the table encounter on Saturday.
Set a target of 210 from 40 overs for victory, Jimboomba battled defiantly but could only manage 9/152 in the face of effective bowling from the Cool Boys.
Tom Jellie top scored with a rapid fire 63 and the best with the ball were Keiren Anderton (2/32) and Joe Plater (2/30).
The Bushrangers suffered defeat for the first time this season but captain coach Joe Plater said his side learnt a great deal from the clash and now knew exactly what would be required to clinch the premiership.
"It was a tough, hard-fought game and it was disappointing to lose but we now know where we need to be," Plater said.
The Jimboomba outfit had been irresistible prior to the upset, marching through the opening six rounds unchallenged with experienced heads leading the way and a talented brigade of young guns firing on all cylinders.
"We've worked really hard," Plater said.
"We've been able to execute in key moments to force results and capitalise on opportunities for bonus points.
"We have some young guys who are showing promise."
In particular, Plater praised standout performers with the bat Tom Jellie and Kim Watson.
With the ball, it has been destructive fast bowler Ethan Hayes and deceptive off spinner Hayden Teese leading the attack.
Bowling with guile and skill, Teese has been a revelation in the top grade, with the young tweaker even bamboozling his way to a five wicket haul in one match.
After fielding just one team last season Jimboomba's ranks have been bolstered and the club now has 43 registered players across three sides
With depth and a healthy mix of wisdom and youth in each squad the Bushrangers are now stronger than ever.
Though pleased with the game's resurgence locally Plater said the organisation would continue to look to grow and improve.
