FLAGSTONE will unveil its $4 million monster playground on the first day of school holidays at the community’s free Christmas party on Saturday.
The $4 million adventure playground – one of the biggest in South East Queensland – boasts a central tower as high as a three-storey building, a designated toddler area, a skybridge and giant octanet to name just a few the attractions that will be unwrapped.
It is the latest addition to the 10 hectare Flagstone Regional Park. Peet managing director and CEO Brendan Gore said the playground, a gift from Peet to the community, would be the centrepiece of the $12 million park, which is being developed in stages over four years.
The park already features a water-based dog park and competition skate plaza. A storybook trail, pump track, fitness hub and maze are among activities still to come.
This week, Peet and Logan City Council announced plans to jointly build a dynamic water playground which is expected to open for Christmas in 2019.
“We are extremely excited and proud of what this facility provides for our community,” Mr Gore said.
“The opportunity to unveil this new stage and bring some adventure to the school holidays is our gift to the many parents and grandparents who are looking for free activities to entertain the children this summer.
“Greater Flagstone is one of the biggest new residential areas in Australia with more than 20 families moving in to Flagstone City every month.
“We are building a city for the future and we want it to be an exciting place for the many families who live here and a key destination to encourage visitors to the region.”
The Christmas party will be held on Saturday. There will be Christmas markets, card and wreath-making workshops, Santa’s photobooth, a costume parade, facepainting, rides, candy and more.
The free family event will end with a bang as the playground lights up with fireworks and a laser light show at 7.30pm.
Peet is encouraging guests to give in return by donating a gift for a child in need in support of the Queensland Children’s Hospital Toy Drive. For more information about the opening celebration go to flagstone.com.au.
