Jimboomba-based racer Kristy Bonsey reached new heights on Saturday night at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway in round six of the East Coast Logistics Series.

Continuing to make gains in 410 Sprintcars throughout the 2018/19 season, the 24-year-old found herself through to the Top 8 Dash for the first time in her career after qualifying 15th and winning both her heats to sit in seventh on points.

Starting the 30-lap feature race from position eight, Bonsey quickly moved forward aboard her Qld # 42 Total Parts Plus supported Eagle car, taking over fourth place after lap three.

Despite slipping back to fifth in the middle stages of the race, Bonsey maintained her composure and managed to regain her position, greeting the chequered flag just off the podium in fourth.

“We are really pleased with how this season is turning out for us so far and last Saturday night’s result is a great confidence boost heading into the busy part of the season,” she said.

Having achieved a major milestone back in July when she clinched her maiden feature-race podium at Cairns International Speedway, the next step for Bonsey was becoming more consistent in order to compete with the state’s leading racers.

Making great strides towards this goal so far this season, she has progressively improved her consistency, most recently crossing the feature-race finish line in 11th and ninth during her last two outings at the Archerfield venue.

“We can see that our consistency is definitely improving, so we will continue focusing on that in order to avoid the B mains and qualify directly into more feature races throughout the rest of the season, which will hopefully help us work towards our goal of a top-10 finish in the East Coast Logistics Series point standings,” Bonsey said.

Returning to Archerfield Speedway for this Saturday night’s seventh East Coast Logistics Series round, Bonsey is hoping to experience a similar result, which will no doubt bolster her further heading into the busy Christmas-New Year period, which will see the World Series

Sprintcars visit the track on January 4, 5 and 9, followed by the Australian Championship over the Australia Day long weekend (January 26 and 27).

Bonsey would like to thank her 2018-19 season sponsors: Total Parts Plus, Russell’s Race Engines, Pro Powder Powdercoating and Sandblasting, and Stroud Homes.

Special thanks must go to Russell Bonsey (Bonsey’s father), along with pit crew member Ash.
