IT is that time of the year when Canterbury College says farewell to another group of seniors graduating from school.
It has been a busy year in which the ‘Class of 2018’ have excelled in academia, sport and performing arts arenas.
The students were committed and proactive in their studies from day one, as well as their senior leadership roles at the College.
“It has been a privilege to work with such a competitive and wonderful group of young adults,” said year 12 year level coordinator Anthony Hillier.
They ably role modeled college expectations both in the classroom and on the sports field.
College spirit was often on display, with the seniors actively encouraging fellow students to participate in all events especially sporting and swimming carnivals.
“I wish each and everyone of them the best in their future endeavours,” Mr Hillier said.
One of the most anticipated events of the year 12 calendar was the Senior Formal, held at the beautiful Brisbane City Hall in June.
It was a very special evening where the students all arrived on the red carpet looking glamorous in their suits and gowns.
The students wowed everyone, displaying some terrific dance moves in the annual flash mob performance.
The year 12 students spent an enjoyable day at the end of term three on a retreat.
The day commenced with a Chapel service and included writing positive affirmations for their peers and the highlight of the day was opening personal, emotional letters from home.
The retreat ended with a country style meal and barn dance.
The Valedictory Dinner was a very special and successful evening held on their final Thursday at the Gabba’s Brisbane Cricket Club.
College Captains Emma Jordin and Saxon Harris cut the graduation cake on behalf of the year 12 students.
The final day at college was also very special, with a delicious breakfast followed by an emotional Valedictory Chapel Service attended by students and their families.
Following this, the Canterbury Events Centre was packed with balloons and tears for the Final Roll Call.
The calling of the year 12 roll for the final time was a moving experience for all those in attendance.
