WINDY conditions are blowing baby birds from flimsy nests leaving them with a poor chance of survival if left unrescued.
Wildlife carer Alma Searle has two Tawny Frogmouth birds in her care after they fell from a tree in Jimboomba.
Ms Searle said she knows of at least six others in the hands of other carers.
“Their nests are not very stable, they are a few sticks made out of cobwebs and can hold up to three babies,” she said.
“We try to put them back in their nest if we can. They have a better chance of survival with mum feeding and looking after them.”
Motorists are also being urged to take care on the road after two turtles were struck by cars on the Maclean bridge and Park Ridge last week.
Ms Searle said it was devastating to see the preventable death of wildlife.
“There are fresh river turtles walking on the land and crossing roads to find the right place to lay their eggs,” she said.
“We ask the public to look out for the wildlife. They have as much rights as the people driving on the road.”
