VINNIES supporters can swap recyclable containers for cash to help vulnerable people in the community.
The charity has partnered with Return-It to install Express Drop Off units as part of the Queensland government’s Containers for Change Scheme at select Vinnies stores including Meadowbrook.
Recyclable materials including bottles, containers and other plastic items can be easily exchanged for cash.
Customers will receive 10 cents per recyclable item dropped off which they can choose to donate to charity.

Vinnies Queensland general manager for operations Roberta Jays said shoppers could support the environment while donating to charity.
“Using these Express Drop Offs, customers can ensure their recyclable containers get recycled and not end up in our waterways or in landfill,” she said.
“Even when the customer keeps then 10 cents for themselves, returning the containers via out shops helps us help people in need.
“This great initiative helps confirm our position as an environmentally friendly not-for-profit organisation, while allowing us the opportunity to raise much needed funds to support our programs and services.”
Return-It managing director David Singh said Vinnies would benefit from every container recycled.
“Vinnies is an iconic non-profit organisation in Queensland and integral in helping so many in our community. I think many people will opt to donate their refunds to this worthy organisation,” Mr Singh.
“The great part about our model is that the charity benefits from every single container returned through their shop, whether or not people also choose to donate the 10 cents.”
Return-It Express units are available at 18 Vinnies stores across Queensland including Boonah, Meadowbrook, Oxley, Acacia Ridge, West Ipswich, Rosewood, Gatton and Toowoomba.
