The North Tamborine Blue Light Association and North Tamborine Police received a $500 donation from the Lions Club to fund a driver education program.

Sergeant Mark Shields said the donation would give youth a head start in developing safe driving skills.

“This program has been successfully run in partnership with both high schools located on the Mountain, giving senior students an opportunity to expand their driving skills and knowledge prior to embarking on their own driving adventure,” he said.

“A huge thanks goes to the Tamborine Village Lions Club for their support.”

Tamborine Village Lions Club publicity officer Shirlene Pott said the club donated to various causes including the Heart Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis.

“It is a very good thing for the younger generation in North Tamborine, Tamborine Mountain and Tamborine Village,” she said.
