FORMER head of secondary and architect of the Emmaus Award Steve Adair is stoked that his son will go down in history as the 2018 recipient of the prestigious honour.
Year 12 Emmaus College student Michael Adair was announced as the winner of the award during the Thanksgiving Liturgy and Emmaus Awards ceremony on Monday, October 29.
The ceremony awarded Class Emmaus awards to each year level with the year 12 winner declared as overall Emmaus Award winner.
The award is given to a student for upholding the values and ethos of Emmaus College and acting as a role model for peers.
Mr Adair was modest about his achievements in 2018 but said he was proud to be in the good company of the winners of the past eight years.
“I don’t like to think too much about what I did to achieve it...it is nice to be recognised," he said.
“I just do things because they need doing. I have been involved in school sporting events, school socials, year 12 events and external events like the school confraternity.”
Mr Adair has been a member of the Emmaus College school community for 10 years and said he will miss the school after graduating at the end of this year.
“The group (at Emmaus College) is really good. There have been lots of friendships, groups and bonds (formed),” he said.

Mr Adair is still deciding what path he will take after graduation.
He follows in the footsteps of 2017 Emmaus Award winner Kirsten White.
Emmaus College will hold their years 7-12 Celebration of Learning Awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 6 at 9am to reveal academic award winners for 2018.
