JIMBOOMBA and Yarrabilba Coles shoppers have dug deep into their pockets to raise more than $24,000 for the Queensland Country Women’s Association to help drought-affected farmers in two months.
Coles has matched every donation dollar-for-dollar to raise more than $2.1 million for the organisation across Queensland to help farmers pay for household and family expenses.
Queensland Country Women’s Association state president Joy Coulson said every donation would make a difference.
“We’re grateful for this generous donation and would like to thank the public for getting behind Coles’ drought initiative to support our Queensland farmers,” she said.

Coles state general manager Jerry Farrell said there was a lot of generosity for farmers in local communities.
“We are incredibly grateful for this tremendous contribution from our customers and team members who have gone above and beyond to raise funds for the CWA drought appeal,” he said.
“Many of our Queensland store teams hosted bake sales, dress up days and collected food donations which went towards preparing hampers for local families impacted by the drought.”
Coles has promised to set aside $5 million in grants or interest free loans through a nurture fund for farmers with projects to counter future drought.
Coles and customers has raised $7,171,400 for the Country Women’s Association nationally this year.
