THE Gold Coast version of Monopoly is now out and Tamborine Mountain is included on the board game, taking up a brown square and tradtiionally representing the cheapest properties on the board.
Tamborine Mountain is also the only geographical landmark to feature on the front of the games box.
In the original game the brown squares are Old Kent Road and Whitechapel in London, while the Brisbane version has Fortitude Valley and Mount Coot-Tha lookout in the brown spots.
Scenic Rim mayor Greg Christensen said the custom games company Winning Moves obviously felt the need to search further afield from the Gold Coast to find areas suitable for Monopoly.
We recognise the value of Tamborine Mountain as part of our exceptional offering that brings joy to people, he said.
Clearly, the creators of the Gold Coast Monopoly game realised they needed to draw on value from outside their region to provide the best opportunity for a joyful experience.
In many ways this reflects the comments of visitors to the Scenic Rim who feel that part of them belongs in our region once they have been here.

Custom games manager from Winning Moves, Dale Hackett, said the sites were picked by the public, Destination Gold Coast and the Gold Coast City Council.
Asked why Tamborine Mountain was on the list, Mr Hackett said there was an overwhelming response and that Gold Coast City Council was among those who suggested Tamborine Mountain be included, even though it is in the Scenic Rim.
We wanted to show off the greater Gold Coast area and we see the 22 property squares as 22 places for people to visit on the Gold Coast.
Mr Hackett said the squares were not graded on value but represented themes like sports and natural attractions.
Brown represents tourist attractions, he said.
If youre on the board youve been immortalised by Monopoly.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate welcomed the inclusion of Tamborine Mountain.
Its almost ironic that Tamborine has made the Gold Coast monopoly board given the desire from some mountain residents to join our city footprint, he said.
Theres no way we would have allocated Tamborine the lowest value squares on the board ... the community is rich in social connection and alive with natural attractions. Itd be green as a minimum for us.
