RESIDENTS living in Cedar Grove, Cedar Vale and Woodhill are advised to boil their tap water after E. Coli bacteria was detected in the water supply.
Logan City Council issued a boil water alert at 5.30pm on Thursday, October 18.
A Council spokesperson said the alert would be in place until further notice.
“Council is working closely with Queensland Health to resolve the situation and we are performing additional testing until we resolve the situation. This may take up to two days,” the spokesperson said.
“This precautionary boil water notice will stay in effect until the Logan City Council and Queensland Health are confident there is no public health concern.
“Regular updates will be provided to affected residents.
“Council has undertaken immediate remedial action including flushing of the water mains pipes, however as a precaution, residents are advised to heed the following advice.”
Consumption of E. Coli can cause severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting.
Council advises unboiled water can be used for showering, washing dishes, washing clothes and flushing toilets as long as water does not have contact with the mouth.
Boiled or bottled water is recommended for drinking, brushing teeth, washing and preparing food, preparing baby formula and making ice.
