AUSTRALIA’S largest clean out, the Garage Sale Trail, could be the answer to clutter woes.
Logan partners with Garage Sale Trail encourage people to open their garage doors to the public or donate items they don’t want to the Logan Recycling Market over the weekend of October 20-21.
Parks, Animals, Environment and Waste chair Cr Jennie Breene said Logan was leader when it came to diverting reusable items from landfill.
“Every week thousands of people flock to the Logan Recycling Market to grab a bargain and give all sorts of items a new life,” Cr Breene said.
“Now the whole nation is throwing open its garage doors to experience the benefits of recycling and reusing.
“It’s also a great chance for individuals and community groups to make a dollar or two.”
In the 2017-18 financial year, Logan Recycling Market donated $63,340 to the Mayor’s Charity Trust.
The market opens Friday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
Last year, the weekend clocked 15,000 garage sales. More than 350,000 Australians hit the streets to browse and buy from two million second-hand items.
The average household made more than $300, community groups raised an average of $650 and schools $1500.
