MARSDEN State High School students united to break the stigma of mental health last week.
The school hosted a range of activities in the spirit of Queensland Mental Health Week from October 6 to 14 organised through the Mates Talk Change program.
There was a LivinWell workshop, a concert, and a basketball game between teachers and students attracting an enormous crowd.
Mates Talk Change leaders also made smoothies for students to enjoy.
Marsden State High School Mates Talk Change coordinator Mitchell Robertson said it was vital to ensure students felt comfortable to speak out when needed.
“Student mental health is incredibly important to Marsden State High School because if our students aren’t feeling their best, students aren’t going to learn effectively in the classroom,” he said.
“We need to educate youth to recognise how their thoughts and feelings affect them and provide them with strategies to use that are both proactive and reactive to preventing and responding to negative emotions.”
