YOUNG Jimboomba jet sprint boating enthusiast Angel Brennan navigated to victory in the six round Australian V8 Group A 400 class championship.
Brennan, 15, joined Noosa sprint boat racer Mark Garlick for the final championship race at Temora, NSW three weeks ago in September.
The duo went into the final round finishing in the top three, ensuring they won the championship despite close competition against formidable opponents like Ben Hathaway and Jody Elis.
They also won the Roy Long memorial trophy for being the most consistent team.
Brennan said it was an experience she would cherish.
“We don’t do this for prize money. Some people do it for bragging rights, we did it for fun because we just love the sport,” she said.
Garlick will now have the opportunity to compete for the V8 world titles at Keith, South Australia in November against some of the best jet sprint boat racers from America, Canada and New Zealand.
“To win at this level will be quite an achievement….it will be the best of the best talent from across the world. I will have to go hard or go home,” Garlick said.
Brennan does not qualify to compete in the worlds titles as she is below the age restriction of 16, but is expected to be a part of the pit crew.

Garlick said Brennan had a bright future ahead of her.
“She is a good kid who navigates well. She does a good job and is very level headed,” he said.
The team competed in races across various parts of Australia including Cabarita, NSW, Keith, South Australia and Griffith, NSW.
The six round Group A 400 class Australian championship started in February and finished last month.
