INVESTORS from Sydney and Melbourne flew in for Logan City Council’s summit, designed to cement the future of Meadowbrook, about 30km north of Jimboomba, as health and education precinct.
It builds on $2.34 billion worth of infrastructure committed to Meadowbrook and surrounding suburbs over the next five years by the council, state and private sector.

This includes the Queensland government’s $221 commitment to upgrade Logan hospital by 2022, private investment in aged care and M1 and Logan Motorway upgrades made through the $939 million M1 Pacific Motorway upgrade to Daisy Hill and $512 million Logan Enhancement Project.
Logan hospital, Logan TAFE and Griffith University Logan campus are already located in Meadowbrook. The council hopes to bring a private hospital and more specialist outpatient services to the region as a priority.
Demographer and social commentator Bernard Salt delivered the key note address. Speakers and panelists included managing director Urban Economics Kerrianne Meulman, Griffith University pro-vice chancellor health Griffith University, shadow treasurer Dr Jim Chalmers, Queensland small business, training and skills development minister Shannon Fentiman and Logan acting mayor Cherie Dalley.
