LOGAN City Council pools will be open in time for the school holidays.
Councillor Steve Swenson said Bethania and Eagleby Aquatic Centres would re-open to the public on September 22 after being closed for winter.
“During the winter months some residents in the southern areas of Logan may have had to travel to the Logan North Aquatic and Fitness Centre, which is open all year round,” Cr Swenson said.
Beenleigh Aquatic Centre will not re-opened until Tuesday, October 9 due to reconstruction works.
Stage one of the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre redevelopment plan, funded by the council and the Queensland government launched on May 28. When stage one is complete, Beenleigh Aquatic Centre will have an indoor heated program pool with a viewing area, kiosk, office, plant equipment, change facilities and a water play area.
Cr Jennie Breene said works on the new indoor heated program pool at Beenleigh Aquatic Centre were progressing well.
“Ground preparation and drainage works have been completed and the pool’s shell concrete has been poured,” Cr Breene said.
“The indoor program pool’s roof is scheduled to be installed early next month and the facility is still scheduled to open in early 2019, depending on weather and construction conditions.”
