RETIREES from Opal by Living Gems at Logan Village staged an arts and crafts show, throwing the doors open to neighbours from Yarrabilba and beyond on the weekend.
Prize-winning artists and crafts workers who live at the over 50s lifestyle resort, had works on show for sale and public viewing – some were their own creations others came from their collections.
Logan City acting mayor Cherie Dalley and Cr Laurie Koranski made a visit view the art works and say their hellos to organiser Betty Milne-Ward, 96.
Cr Koranski praised the event and its organiser.
“I am constantly astounded by the amount of talented residents we have living locally,” Cr Koranski said.
“The inaugural Opal Gardens Arts and Craft Show has provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase magnificent work including paintings, tapestries, qulits, wood carvings, handmade cards and jewellery.
“It’s always a thrill for me to meet the artists and learn about their stories too.
“Huge credit to Betty Milne Ward and the volunteers who have worked so hard to bring this wonderful event to life.”
