MOTORISTS can significantly reduce the risk of having their number plates stolen by visiting a Logan police station.
Jimboomba police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh has urged south-west Logan residents to request one-way screws to secure their registration plates following a spate of thefts.
Senior Sergeant Waugh said police received five reports of stolen number plates in Wharf Street, Logan Village on September 5 in the morning.
“We invite people to come to the police station and collect the one-way screws. In most cases, we have the ability to help people fit their screws,” he said.
“We have noticed an increase in number plate theft in the Logan District, but it is also a problem across the state.”
