CHILD PROTECTION WEEK
NATIONAL Child Protection Week runs until September 8 and encourages us to promote safety for children in our communities. The sad reality is many young people who are abused believe this behaviour is normal. Adults let young people down.
Reports of child abuse give witness to the lack of accountability for adults who abuse young people. Courts are too lenient and communities look the other way because this is the easiest option. People do not want to get involved. We have lost the ability for adults to serve as collective parents for young people in our neighbourhood.
Nothing is more important than protecting vulnerable children from abuse and neglect. Child abuse goes beyond the tears and pain experienced in childhood. Victims endure a lifetime of psychological and emotional distress, they often become drug users to kill the pain of abuse, attempt suicide, self-mutilate and have trust issues. We, as a society, must provide children with a safe, supportive environment, so they can reach their full potential.
At Youth Off The Streets we provide services to young people from all walks of life across three Australian states. Above all else, we hold the protection of young people paramount in our activities and programs.
I support National Child Protection week and the movement to protect some of Australia’s most vulnerable young people, but would like to see this action become an everyday part of Australian lives.

CLOSING: RACQ BROWNS PLAINS
WHAT a shame. This branch was the only place I would go to pay renewals and get discounted tickets. I don't want to do everything online. Those poor people losing their jobs. I hope they were re-positioned within the company.

FIRST they close Beaudesert, now Browns Plains. I don't pay my renewal via internet or bpay. I like to pay cash in person. Not happy.

EVERYTHING is going online. Too bad if you prefer a friendly face to deal with, same with the banks.
