JIMBOOMBA police charged a woman with high-range drink driving after ramping up random breath test patrols for Queensland Road Safety Week.
Officers conducted road-side patrols and offered motorists free coffee vouchers on Monday, August 27, as part of a safety partnership between Queensland police and Zaraffas Jimboomba.
Jimboomba police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said a 31-year-old Cedar Grove woman was charged after allegedly recording a reading of 0.217 at 11.22am.
She will appear in Beaudesert Magistrates Court on September 18.
Police also charged a 22-year-old Tamborine man at midnight on August 26 after recording a reading of 0.177 on Camp Cable Road.
He will appear at Beaudesert Magistrates Court on September 25.
A 17-year-old Cedar Vale man was also issued with an infringement after police caught him speeding in a Holden Commodore on Hinchcliffe Road, Logan Village about 4pm on Wednesday, August 29.
Police speed radars caught the motorist travelling 117km/h in a 60 zone.
Senior Sergeant Waugh said not everyone was getting the road safety message.
“It has been disappointing to see some people are not taking notice of the messages,” he said.
“We all have a role to play in reducing the road toll. People are putting their lives at risk by speeding, drink driving and using mobile phones.
“The statistics show that these are the major causes of fatalities in the (Logan) area.”
Jimboomba police bolstered community engagement for Road Safety Week with a visit to Flagstone State School and Yarrabilba State School.
Police also spoke to residents from the Opal Gardens Community in Logan Village on Wednesday, August 29 with safety advisors from Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Queensland Road Safety Week started on August 27 and runs until August 31.
