FORDE MP Bert van Manen has extended his congratulations to Liberal Party colleagues Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg on their election as Liberal leader and Deputy Leader in Canberra.
“The results of the ballot signals a fresh new change for the Coalition, which remains focussed on delivering for all Australians and keeping Bill Shorten on the opposition benches,” Mr van Manen said.
“My priority continues to be the community of Forde and to maintain the fight to lower power prices, provide the best possible health care, reduce child care costs and free up congestion on the M1.”
He acknowledged Queensland colleague Peter Dutton, whom he knew would remain a loyal local member to the residents in his electorate of Dickson and to the party’s new leadership team.
Mr van Manen thanked Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop for service to the Liberal Party and the nation.
“The Turnbull Government achieved much during its term,” he said.
He said it was now time for all to put their support behind Scott Morrison.
“While the events of the past week have been a frustrating distraction for many, we must now move on and focus on being the best possible Government for 25 million Australians.”
