TYSON Major was quick to come to the aid of his neighbours as flames licked the side windows of a Jimboomba property this afternoon.
Mr Major immediately entered a Swan Road home at risk of being engulfed in flames shortly after 12.15pm to ensure everyone escaped unharmed.
“I jumped my fence as the flames were licking the side of their window,” he said.
“The (neighbour’s) husband was at the door trying to get his wife out. I got in and carried her out to the street.
“They also had birds and they were more concerned about them.”
Six QFES crews immediately fought to control the blaze before the situation was contained shortly after 1.30pm.
QFES area commander Robert Bloss said there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
“Unfortunately, we lost one motor vehicle and the shed sustained heat stress,” Mr Bloss said.
Mr Major said it took less than a minute for the small grass fire to escalate into a more serious blaze.
“Conditions are just perfect for bushfires...all it takes is one moment and it can become madness,” he said.
“People need to be aware of fire bans and keep properties maintained.”
