UPDATE: 2.20pm
A SWIFT response from fire fighters and emergency services resulted in no injuries to two occupants of a Jimboomba property affected by a serious grass fire.
QFES area commander Robert Bloss said emergency services were quick to stop the blaze from spreading after a motor vehicle was engulfed in flames and a shed sustained heat damage.
“Fire fighters noticed the fire was moving very rapidly toward the (home) so they put measures in place to save the structure which we did,” he said.
“The initial fire was heavily weighted so we threw six fire trucks at the fire straight away...we threw a lot of resources at this fire because we did not want it to spread.
“The topography of the land helped us – having a creek (on the property) assisted crews in containing the fire.”
Mr Bloss stressed the importance of following the total no fire ban in place.
“I would like to draw people’s attention to the severe heat we have at the moment and for people to make sure they clear leaves and gutters,” he said.
“Look at the local fire web pages and they will keep you updated on fire bans at the moment.
“We have a total fire ban at this time. If you have a permit to burn that will have been rescinded and you will have to reapply through local fire wardens.”
Police and ambulance units attended the fire in addition to 12 fire crews before the fire was contained.
