THE Jimboomba Auto Extravaganza will for the first time stage a grass drive gymkhana on grass.
Owners of veteran, vintage, classic, sports, street rods, custom cars, race and drag cars, Fast Four and Modified vehicles, military, trucks, utes and bikes will have the chance to test their vehicles in a race against the course on an obstacle course.
“It’s something a bit different,” said hot rod owner Frank Jury.
It’s not for him, however.
Mr Jury will will enter his restored 1946 beauty in the show’n’shine category only. She’s his pride and joy.
“I found her in Ipwich. She didn’t look like this,” he said.
“It’s been quite a project – 15 years all up.”
The 14-year-old Jimboomba Auto Extravaganza has been held at Hills International College for the past two years.
Organiser Graham Curtis said the event used to be held at nearby Tully Memorial Park on the Mt Lindesay Highway by the Logan River at North Maclean.
The event moved to two years ago after Logan council changed park uses.
More than 100 cars are expected to join this year’s event, most from Jimboomba, Logan Village and surrounds.
Kyren O’Loan is pictured with son Nick’s My1923 kit built car, another beauty that will enter the show’n’shine.
The event will be held at on Sunday, August 26 at 105-111 Johanna Street.
Other event highlights include a swap meet.
