FOUR Jimboomba Thunder teams head into the grand finals in a first for the local league favourites.
The Under 12s, 13s, 14s and 15s travelled to Beaudesert on the weekend to compete in the major semi-finals of the Rugby League Gold Coast competition.
After two days of hard fought, competitive football the Thunder sides came away with four courageous victories.
The wins marks the first time in club history that four teams progress through to the grand finals.
“It’s a great outcome for the Thunder club but most importantly it’s a great result for the kids. To see all the smiles on the faces of the players, as well as the parents and supporters was pretty special,” said Thunder president Neil Richards.
“Our coaching staff are all wonderful club people who put in a lot of effort with their teams, much of it behind the scenes, and they’ve done a great job this year.”
The Under 17s will attempt to become the fifth Jimboomba side to make the semi finals when the take on minor premiers Coomera this weekend.”
“The support for our teams last weekend was exceptional. We are hoping that we have a large crowd for our 17s on Saturday. Their semi final win over Beaudesert was the most exciting game I’ve seen all year, and we’re hoping the boys can dig deep once again.”
