ROAR’S French marquee signing Eric Bautheac says he’s fighting fit and ready for the launch of the Hyundai A League season in October.
The French winger met the press at Roar FC’s Logan Metro training grounds, Browns Plains, last week ahead of the first FFA Cup 2018 round of 32 game at Dolphin Oval, Redcliffe.
“I will be a better player, definitely,” he said.
“I did not speak English then. Now I do a bit better. I did not know my team mates then, but now I do.”
Roar has won three pre-season clashes, the last a 2-1 victory against Wellington Phoenix at Robina.
Bautheac said this week’s round of 32 Melbourne clash was important for the team to stay competitive.
“The three-months of pre-season … that has been a long time for us. We need competition to progress,” he said.
Bautheac said Roar 2018 was shaping up as a fine team, boasting new young players and a great coach.
The French favourite is still celebrating France’s recent World Cup win.
“Now I know the teams in Australia, the plays and the football I think is a little difference to France. I will get better and better.
“My wife and sons enjoy the life here in Australia and I like my team mates and my boss.”
Roar will play its first Hyundai A League game against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, October 21. Kick-off is at 4pm.
