YARRABILBA father Scott Roebig and his little girl Annabelle, 5, were the cutest couple in the room at Friday’s Logan Business Distinction Awards.
But the gorgeous pair were just half the story in the tale of a Logan Country business making good.
While the daddy and daughter duo from family business Thom and Ann’s Restaurant Deli, Yarrabilba stepped up to take a prize in the Restaurants and Catering Services category at Logan’s glittering night of nights, mum Fiona and son Thom, 7, were at nearby Dreamworld accepting the Small Employer of the Year gong at the South East Queensland Training Awards.
Thom & Ann’s is one of 11 businesses that go on to represent south-east Queensland at the Queensland Training Awards state gala dinner in Brisbane on September 8.
“We’re having a great night. I can’t tell you how much it means for us to win this prize,” Mr Roebig said.
The Logan Business Awards recognise Logan businesses big, medium, small, micro or online.
Chambers of commerce Logan, Logan Country, Beenleigh-Yatala and 4118 Group combined to host Logan’s glittering night of nights. More than 350 businesses were nominated across 23 categories and a big four gongs for best business, best new business, customer service and community contribution.
Logan Country business winners included Jump Swim Schools, Jimboomba for Education and Childcare; Small Business Improvement Services for Employment, Training and Consultancy; Bendigo Bank Logan Country for Financial Services and Insurance; the Jimboomba Times for advertising and marketing; and LJ Hooker Yarrabilba for building development and real estate.
Jimboomba based Bee All Natural and Organic won one of the big four awards – New Business of the Year. K&G Automotive was crowned 2018 business of the year. Harrison’s Little Wings won the Community Contribution category. The American Bourbon Bar won the customer services award.
About 1000 people turned out, dressed to the nines, to walk the red-carpet at the glittering event.
The key note address was delivered by Kenton Campbell, the Seattle coffee kart operator now Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO, with 80 plus stores in Queensland, Western Australia and NSW.
Mr Campbell’s motivational speech included a virtual walk through his plans for The Shed, Zarraffa’s new business plan for a foodie hub next to the historic Beenleigh Artisan Distillery.
Those in the room included Federal MPs Bert van Manen (Forde) and Dr Jim Chalmers (Rankin), state MPs for Woodridge, Waterford, Macalister and Algester Cameron Dick, Shannon Fentiman, Melissa McMahon and Charis Mullen, acting mayor Cherie Dalley and Logan councillors Trevina Schwarz, Jennie Breene, Laurie Smith, Laurie Koranski and Darren Power.
The Logan Business Distinction Awards hands out awards in 23 categories in addition to its big-four gongs for business of the year, new business, customer service and community contribution.
