ILLUSIONS rhythmic gymnasts have returned from their second major competition with a swag of prizes and improvements all around.
The new combined club with students at Jimboomba and Tweed headed to the Challenge 2 Competition at PCYC Logan Elegance, Stretton on Saturday, July 21.
llusions Jimboomba coach Renay Downey said the club entered students in Level 3 to 6 and in the RG Skools Program.
Level 3 contestants performed well with big improvements in their routines, said Illusions chief coach Renay Downey. Matilda Johnston took third in freehand and fifth in ball. Makaylah DeJonge took fifth in freehand, Amara took sixth in hoop.
Level 4 contestants improved routine performances and Lyla Lindemann took a fifth in hoop.
The school’s first entry into RG Skools ended well. Matilda and Taylor came second in level one pair and Jade and Hannah, third in level two pair and Jade, Hannah and Amara Pearson first in level one trio.
Level 6 girls had trained hard since the last competition. Kelsi Farrow came away with second in ball, sixth clubs and fifth overall.
“We would like to congratulate all the girls who competed todayand celebrate the small achievements and not just the those that came away with ribbons and medals,” said Ms Downey.
“Coach Stacey and Renay are so proud of the girls and how they represented the club.
“We are now going to be working on more improvements as we prepare for our next competition.”
The girls head next to the Rhythmic Junior States and Queensland Cup at Carrara Stadium from August 17 to 19.
