THE Browns Plains Police Blue Light Disco Association have donated funds to support a self-defence and anti-bullying initiative.
Browns Plains police Senior Sergeant Michael Leafe presented $250 to Simon Egan from the Swordsmen Martial Arts School on July 16.
They money will help the school purchase a daedo electronic scoring system to support competition standards.
Mr Egan said taekwondo supported values like self-respect, courtesy and integrity.
The next Browns Plains Police Blue Light Disco is set to be held on August 3 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Logan West Community Centre.
Children are encouraged to dress up in red carpet themed outfits for the event with a prize given to the best costume on the night. Formal or gold attire is recommended.
Disco nights have run for more than 27 years and typically attract between 350 and 450 kids monthly.
