THE Jimboomba Redbacks won every game except for one last week.
The senior side played their natural winning game against Collingwood Park on Friday, with a convincing 47 point lead (82-35).
However, the under 15 girls Jimboomba/Beenleigh girls fell just short against Mount Gravatt, losing 15-25.
On Sunday, there were wins for the under 12 and under 14 boys as well as the under 17 girls.
The under 12 Redbacks took on the Ipswich Cats in a tightly contested home game at Henderson Park.
The first quarter was the strongest for the Redbacks with strong offensive play resulting in two early goals and no points for the opposition.
Ipswich kicked their first goal in the second quarter and restricted the Redbacks from making the most of opportunities.
Both teams put the pressure on in the third quarter with the Redbacks scoring the first goal and Ipswich troubling Jimboomba’s defence.
Ipswich made crucial ground against Jimboomba in the final quarter, resulting in a nailbiting final two minutes.
Fortunately, it was not enough to win with the Redbacks claiming a one point victory.
The win moves the under 12 team to the top of the ladder.
It was also a milestone moment for key player Cooper Manning who played his 100th game against Ipswich.
The under 14 Narangba team were no match for Jimboomba/Greater Springfield, losing by 40 points (75-35).
The win propels the under 14 side to second on the ladder.
The team also celebrated. Matty Gillham’s 100th game for the side.
The under 17 Beenleigh/Jimboomba girls defeated Wilston Grance 40-14.
This week marked the halfway mark of the season for the junior and senior players.
Charity event
HENDERSON Park will host an annual fundraising event this weekend to tackle cancer.
Festivities will start on July 7 from 10am with all money raised to be donated to Bowel Cancer Australia.
The event will coincide with a number of junior matches in the morning and senior AFl clashes during the afternoon.
The under six and eight games will be played from 10am to 11am while the under 10 and 12 games will run from 11am to 12pm.
The Redbacks seniors will face Maroochydore at 1.30pm and the Masters will take on Springfield at 3.30pm.
There will be a jersey auction at 5.30pm.
There will be face painting, jumping castles, food vans, raffles, live music and fireworks.
The event will continue until late.
