TRANSURBAN Queensland’s congestion busting interchange work at Parkinson ploughs ahead with another major traffic switch scheduled for the weekend.
Motorists can expect some delays and confusion with works to open the Mount Lindesay Highway northbound to Logan Motorway westbound on-ramp and close the old on-ramp tomorrow night, 7pm, through to Sunday, 5am.
When complete, the works, will improve driver safety and ease congestion all the way to Jimboomba and Beaudesert.
A TQ spokesperson said the switch would involve:
• full closure of the existing Logan Motorway westbound on-ramp with a detour in place
• single lane closures on Mount Lindesay Highway northbound
At the end of work, traffic switches permanently onto the new Mt Lindesay Highway northbound to Logan Motorway westbound on-ramp.
The spokesman said road users should expect:
• increased activity around the work area including the presence of workers, vehicles and equipment
• road construction and resurfacing, road pavement profilers, compaction rollers, body trucks, line marking and use of hand tools, barrier relocation and installation of new signage
• traffic control and reduced speeds to ensure the safety of motorists and workers
• machinery noise
In the case of bad weather or delays, the works will be postponed.
Transurban Queensland’s $512 million Logan Enhancement Project upgrades parts of the Logan and Gateway Extension motorways, improves congestion hot spots on the Logan Motorway, Mount Lindesay Highway and Beaudesert Road interchange and the Wembley Road and Logan Motorway interchange.
Works include new south-facing ramps on the Gateway Extension Motorway at Compton Road.
All works should be finished in 2019, weather permitting.
