It’s time to get your boldest race day outfits ready ahead of this Saturday’s Beaudesert Cup.
Cup day is the highlight of the Beaudesert Race Club season and this year it is the first event held at the track following the resolution to enter into a management affiliation with the Gold Coast Turf Club reached at Monday night’s general meeting.
In a landslide result the club’s members voted 32-1 in favour of the arrangement, the finer details of which are to be finalised in coming weeks and will be revealed by the Times as they come to light.
On Saturday there will be seven highly competitive races held at regular intervals. The gates swing open at 10am with the action expected to get underway from 11.30am.
The premier race is, of course, the prestigious Beaudesert Cup. The field will be finalised on Thursday when acceptances are due but the 1400m event is expected to attract the region’s leading sprinters, jockeys and trainers with Chris Munce of Eagle Farm and Bruce Hill of the Gold Coast just a couple of the prominent names whose horses are confirmed starters.
General admission is $15 on the day or beat the queue and pre-purchase your tickets online at gctc.com.au/event/beaudesert-cup-day/ for $12.50. Every bar at the track will be open and dispensing suds throughout, while food vans will be on hand to satisfy your hunger.
Picnic packages catering for six people are available for $300. They include entry into the racetrack and the Racecallers Meadow, picnic table, umbrella and chairs, race book, food platters of antipasti and cold cuts, as well as a cash bar and betting facilities nearby.
Alternatively, punters can choose to dine in style at the Country Luncheon in the Bushman’s Pavilion for $75 per head.
For this price racegoers receive admission to the track, a house beverage on arrival, gourmet buffet, a shared race book, chair covers, sashes and a centrepiece for a table of ten. There is also live music, as well as bar and betting facilities in the vicinity.
Beaudesert Race Club treasurer Matthew Ahrens said it promises to be a fantastic day of socialising and quality horse racing as he extended a warm invitation to all.
“It’ll be a great day,” he said.
“There’ll be a good crowd there as well.
“There’s busloads coming from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
“Hopefully the weather is good, it looks like it will be.”
The Beaudesert Race Club would like to thank Barrier Reef Pools for its long-term support.
