SENIORS are making friends and having a laugh at Logan Village every Monday and Friday morning.
Lotus Vana Resort have run a Seniors Activity Program at the Old School House on Wharf Street from 9am to 11.30am since July 2017.
And it is bringing joy to Logan Village residents like Joyce Doyle who met many like minded friends over board games like trivial pursuit or 500.
“It is so much fun. We play games, sit and talk and laugh the whole time we are there,” she said.
“At only $5 each week we are certainly well looked after with tea, coffee and cakes, not to mention the lovely, happy staff that makes our time so much fun.”
The program also includes a craft program fortnightly on Friday afternoons.
Lotus Vana Resort staff member Cheryl Lowe said the program was designed to promote socialisation and counter loneliness.
“This is needed in the area, there was nothing here for seniors before we came along,” she said.
“Our program aims to create an environment where people who attend are able to socially interact, be included, valued, motivated and empowered to reach their full potential in enjoyment and self-worth.
“We hope we can get more people interested to get in contact and learn more about what we do.”
To fund the programs, Lotus Vana Resort hosts the Greenbank markets at Pub Lane every three months, with the next market date on July 14.
