JOINING a Variety Bash car envoy has been on Luke White’s wish list since his first encounter with the fanfare as a teen in the remote NSW town of Balranald.

And the Jimboomba virgin basher will join 1600 motoring enthusiasts in August for a riveting outback adventure from Bonnyrigg in the western suburbs of Sydney to Uluru to raise money for sick children and breathe life into country towns.

Mr White said the trip would be a dream come true.

“I was made aware of Variety when I was working in the bush and they came through town,” he said.

“That is when I decided I would do that one day. I have traveled overseas for once for the past four years and I thought this time I would do something for the kids instead.

“I will also see bits of Australia I have never seen.”

Mr White said he was excited to be a part of the charitable adventure for the first time.

“I just love the bush. Once we are out west on the dirt road that will be the highlight for me to get on the corrogated roads in envoy and talk shit on the radio and have a few laughs,” he said.

“I’m a virgin basher so we have to raise a minimum of $8500 but I set myself a goal of $30,000,” he said.

“I jumped on board six months ago and raised just over $8000.”

Variety bashers are required to drive in cars which are at least 30 years old with a recovery crew to join the trip in case of mechanical issues.

Mr White will be driving a Bob the Builder themed 1961 XK Falcon, displaying the number 75.

Local businesses and individual sponsors will have their names or logos displayed on the vehicle for the nine day trip.

Mr White plans to raise additional funds by ramping social media publicity and starting a raffle with a chance for people to win a trip for two to Hawaii.
