THE Queensland budget allocates funding that will roll out across the next year on a 32 projects in Logan and surrounds.
There was funding for schools, roads, Logan hospital, a promised park’n’ride at Greenbank and funds for the Jimboomba Redbacks to build toilets, showers and change rooms designed to attract women to the game of Aussie Rules.
The growing suburb of Yarrabilba was a winner with funds confirmed for schools, fire and ambulance services and an integrated child service community hub.
There are new projects and projects promised in the lead up to the 2017 elections. The funding details rolled out by the Queensland government today included:
Pacific Motorway Gateway Motorway merge
- $50 million of a total $190 million total spend to upgrade the motorway in Rochedale South from Miles Platting Road to Rochedale Road, due for completion in November 2020 with a capped Australian government spend of $115 million. The benefit will be felt by commuters who live as far away as Beaudesert and Jimboomba
Underwood Park
- $9.1 million towards a redevelopment
Pacific Motorway, Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill
- $17 million of $749 million to upgrade 9km of the Pacific Motorway between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill
West Logan permanent fire and rescue station upgrade
- $500,00 to upgrade the West Logan permanent fire and rescue station
Greenbank Bus Park’n’ride
- $4.3 million of $21 million to upgrade the Greenbank Park’n’ride to provide an extra 600 car spaces due for completion in June 2021
Logan Hospital
- $1.8 million of a $1.9 million total spend to replace chillers and cooling towers in Building 1
Loganlea Train Station
- $30,000 of $19 million spent to upgrade
Park Ridge State High School
- $1.1 million of a $6 million total spent to build new building with six learning areas and two specialist areas
Logan Village Neighbourhood Police Beat
- $400,000 upgrade
Waterford-Tamborine Road upgrade at Logan Village
- $13.3 million of $39.5 million to upgrade four intersections between Anzac Avenue and Hotz Road, Logan Village, due for completion September 2018 delivered in partnership with the private sector
Mount Lindesay Highway intersection improvements – Browns Plains to Beaudesert
- $16 million of $20 million to improve the intersection at Greenbank Road, North Maclean, due for completion May 2019 and delivered in partnership with the Australian government.
Yarrabilba Rural Fire Station upgrade and a new facility
- $1 million of $5 million to upgrade to the rural fire station at Logan Village and construct a new facility to service Yarrabilba and surrounds
Yarrabilba ambulance station
- $200,000 of $4.6 million to build a new ambulance station to support the demand for services in the south east Queensland western corridor
Yarrabilba State School integrated child service community hub
- $600,00 of $3.6 million to build an integrated child services community hub
New Yarrabilba State School
- $6 million out of $37.6 million for stage two works that one special education unit and two two-storey teaching blocks.
Flagstone State Community College
- $2.3 million of a $3.6 million spend to build extra classrooms – five learning areas and five specialist centres
New Yarrabilba high school
- $9.5 million of $45 million to build a new secondary school as part of the Building Future Schools Fund
Plunkett Conservation Park Trail Network
- $40,000 to build a new recreational trail
Jimboomba Redbacks Australian Football Club
- $500,000 to construct toilets, showers, change rooms first aid room and officials rooms to support female participation in football and cricket at Glenlogan
Yarrabilba/ Jimboomba Neighbourhood Centre
- $100,000 of $3.6 million spend towards the design and development of a new neighbourhood centre
Beaudesert Water Supply Zone preliminary works
- $3 million to progress preliminary works on a new pipeline to secure long term water supply
Beaudesert Hospital chiller replacement
- $703,333 out of $873,636 to replace two main chillers at Beaudesert Hospital
Rathdowney replacement auxiliary fire and rescue station
- $1.7 million of $1.9 million to replace the Rathdowney auxiliary fire and rescue station
Eagleby South State School
- $900,000 of a $3.6 million spend to construct a new building with four learning areas.
Beenleigh Aquatic Centre
- $1.5 million to redevelop pool facilties
Beenleigh Special School
- $900,000 of $3.6 million to build a new bulding with 10 learning areas.
Windaroo Valley High
- $1.1 million of $3.8 million for a new building with five learning areas and one specialist area
Beenleigh Court House
- $7 million of a total $11 million upgrade to support the expand specialist domestic and famaily violence courts
Domestic and family violence coordinators
- $410,000 for extra district domestic and family violence co-ordinators to provide direction, guidance and training
First 5 Forever
- $119,000 to deliver the family literacy initiative which helps parents and carers to improve development outcomes for children aged 0-5 years.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work
- $84 million of $420 million statewide spend to fund training opportunities and increase workforce participation
Social housing
- $55.5 million to expand and improve social housing
