COLES shoppers in Jimboomba and Yarrabilba have been invited to declare war against hunger.
Australians living below the poverty line will have an easier time finding a meal after the major retailer launched the SecondBite Winter Appeal on June 6.
For every $2 donation card purchased at Coles, SecondBite will provide the equivalent of 10 nutritious meals to people in need.
The money will support SecondBite to pay for fuel, transport and refrigeration to donate food supplied by Coles.
Renowned Chef and Coles adviser Curtis Stone encouraged people to get behind the imitative.
“An alarming number of people in our community cannot afford nutritious food to have regular meals. By raising funds through the Winter Appeal, we hope we can help get more meals on the table for people facing hardship,” he said.
Coles has also partnered with Unilever to ensure that one cup of Continental soup will be donated to SecondBite for every pack of soup purchased between June 6 and July 3.
Coles State general manager Jerry Farrell said
“We are proud to donate food to more than 220 community groups in Queensland through our partnership with SecondBite,” he said.
Coles has been in partnership with SecondBite since 2011.
