THREE members of the Jimboomba Redbacks impressed selectors at the AFL Queensland State Championships at Cairns in May.
Aliesha Alford was chosen to represent the under 15 Queensland girls team and Jesica Draper and Josii Hargreaves were selected as shadow players.
The three girls competed against about 250 other girls for selection to the Queensland team from May 9 to May 12.
The under 15 Queensland girls will travel to South Australia in July and compete against Victoria, West Australia and NSW.
Jimboomba Redbacks coach Steven Alford said the girls competed at Cairns following a school based program.
“You had to make the regional side and then there were 10 other regions to compete against,” he said.
“Two of the girls (Jesica and Aliesha) were in the South Coast side and Josii was in the Metropolitan West region, but they all play for the Redbacks.”
The State Championships concluded with a grand final with the Sunshine Coast defeating the South Coast.
Jesica Draper said she was happy with her achievement after only playing with the Redbacks for one season.
“I learned a lot (during that time),” she said.
The three girls said it would be their dream to be drafted for the AFLW League.
