LOGAN workers can dob in a boss for a CEO campout with a twist next month.
Sheltered by Grace Waterford chairman Jason Loakes said local businesses were invited to raise $250 to nominate bosses for the campout on June 16.
Mr Loakes said the challenge had been designed to make the experience a memorable one for the boss.
“Staff will raise the money rather than the boss forking out $250 – and for every $100 staffers raise, they can add a wish for what we do to the boss that night,” he said.
Sheltered by Grace aims to raise $20,000 to sustain existing services for vulnerable people in need.
The initiative is supported by Logan Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Loakes said homeless shelters had a high failure rate, but success stories of the past 8.5 years filled him with hope.
“About 85 per cent of people who come to our shelter or any other one will fail,” he said.
“But the 15 per cent who get on their feet makes a huge difference.
“That is what you hold on to … these people are stable for the first time in their life.”
Mr Loakes says he has seen a man overcome a 30 year alcohol addiction, a grandmother quit amphetamines for more than two years and others take on caretaker roles to manage the shelter they once relied upon.
“Giving people a roof over their head is not enough. You have to fix people’s mental and physical health and sometimes their spiritual health,” he said.
“I want to finish building the next three 12 bedroom homes on this site.”
