SOUTH Queensland Barefoot Club members were in the presence of royalty at Boyland this month.
New Zealand barefoot sensation Georgia Groen joined Australian professional Brendan Paige for a two-day junior development camp at the Boyland club on May 19 and 20. The duo passed on knowledge and inspired younger members.
Groen said the juniors posessed a good mix of talent.
“I just helped them learn new things they had not done before and coached them differently than mum and dad would,” she said.
Groen, who holds the worlds women’s title after winning the world championship at Wisconsin in 2017, said Queenslanders were fortunate to enjoy ski friendly weather all year round.
“It is a lot warmer here than (in New Zealand) and that is what brings me (to Australia) most of the time,” she said.
South Queensland Barefooting Club member John Pain said the development camp was a morale boost for the club: “It is amazing we have this quality of barefooters in our backyard.”
