Queensland Tourism Industry Council are encouraging food and wine operators to put their best foot forward and nominate their businesses in this year’s Queensland Tourism Awards.
Last year, Tree Top Challenge at Thunderbird Park won a gold award for adventure tourism while O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards took home a gold award for the state’s best tourism winery.
The Queensland Tourism Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts who assess written submissions and travel throughout Queensland to experience the amenities and services of the nominated businesses.
QTIC chief executive Daniel Gschwind said the 34th annual Queensland Tourism Awards were set to be better than ever after a previously stellar year.
“More and more people are travelling to Queensland’s food and wine region, recognising that the quality on offer is comparable to the more legacy foodie destinations in Australia,” he said.
“Businesses like last year’s Tourism Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries winner, O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards, really showed that Queensland’s food and wine industry has emerged as a world class competition.”
“This year, we’ve had nominations from all over the state already, including the Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest festival, which showcases some of the best produce from around Stanthorpe – a renowned foodie region.”
Nominations are open until 5pm on May 31.
Gold, silver and bronze winners from the 28 awards categories and the RACQ People’s Choice Award will be announced on November 16.
Queensland’s gold award winners from categories 1 to 25 will gain automatic entry into the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
