FLAGSTONE students are surpassing fitness boundaries through an 8 week after school program.
About 20 Flagstone State Community College students have consistently attended Blue Edge fitness programs on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3pm for the past four weeks.
Blue Edge is a physical training program targeted to specific schools across Australia.
It includes career education, motivational speakers and mentoring to help young students maximise their potential.
Flagstone State Community College Youth coordinator Nicolette Foxton said the positive results were already proving it was the most beneficial program she had been involved with in the school.
“At our first fitness session we did a series of testing and wrote down our personal scores. At the end of the program we will do it again and hopefully beat those results while working as a team,” she said.
“We have seen a number of students keep turning up in their own time after school. I have been surprised that they have committed to two sessions a week and keep coming back.
“All the students I have spoken to are enjoying the program and feeling the benefits from it which is very positive.”
Fitness sessions are prepared by Build Your Physique Jimboomba trainers who mix up circuit activities and have the youth doing something new every week.
The program has also received support from Wilson Security and Flagstone developers Peet who have donated items including water bottles, food and uniforms.
Police are also involved in the program to build greater engagement and relationships with students.
