A NORTH Maclean teen with six years modelling experience vies for the Miss Teen Australia crown in Townsville next week.
Gigi Mason, 15, is fresh from the Queensland Miss Teen competition in April and a trip to Fiji to support communities affected by natural disaster.
She is one of three Queenslanders out of 24 contestants in the running for the ultimate glory.
Gigi will cherish the opportunity regardless of how she places in the four-day competition from May 24.
“This will be a good experience and if I win that would be the cherry on top,” she said.
“I’m looking to make new friends, get experience and exposure.
“I think this will open up more opportunities and help me get noticed. Modelling helps with confidence.”
Miss Teen Australia judging criteria includes how models talk, hold themselves on stage and mix with others.
Gigi said there was more to modelling then performing on stage.
“I did a speech for Beyond Blue because a lot of people in this generation have problems with mental health issues like depression and anxiety,” she said.
Gigi has a strong academic record at Redbank Plains Staines Memorial College and aspires to an Australian Air Force engineering career.
