MOUNT Lindesay Highway, inland rail and stronger communities grants topped the agenda when regional development, territories and local government minister Dr John McVeigh joined Forde MP Bert van Manen on a tour of the region’s western suburbs today.
Mr van Manen said Mount Lindesay Highway safety needs were the first order of business.
The Federal budget delivered $16 million towards safety improvements on Mount Lindesay for a much needed upgrade to the Greenbank Road intersection and safer access to St Aldwyn Road.
“With the population boom from Logan’s western suburbs, more needs to be done and I know the minister will take this feedback back to the Deputy Prime minister,” he said.
Mr van Manen showed Dr McVeigh the inland rail which borders his electorate and visited a recipient of a stronger communities grants.
Park Ridge Baptist Church received a $6743 grant for a community connect centre fitout at Park Ridge Shopping Centre.
“It was a great opportunity for the minister to see the results of just one of many local grants and how it benefits the Park Ridge community,” Mr van Manen said.
