THE Jimboomba AFL Redbacks Masters not only won against an unbeaten side in the Masters League, they more than doubled the score of the opposition.
The Redbacks faced the Toowoomba Masters on Saturday and claimed a “momentous victory” with an overwhelming 38 point lead of 74-36.
Matthew Wellington and David Balmforth shared player of the match honours.
The victory maintains the Jimboomba Masters’ 2018 season undefeated streak after winning the past two games with a margin of more than 40 points.
The Jimboomba Seniors side kept the winning spirit alive in a tighter contest against the Maroochydore Roos on Saturday.
A few late goals turned the momentum around and ensured the Redbacks a narrow five point victory (50-45) against the opponents in an away game up north.
This sealed the Senior Redbacks’ first win of the season with Jeff Dunn, Kristan Rooks and Jacob Guise sharing best on ground glory.
The under 17 girls merged Jimboomba/Beenleigh side clash against Cooparoo went to a nail-biting finish with a goal in the final minutes being the deciding factor on Sunday.
Aliesha Alford claimed the best player on the field title.
The under 14 Jimboomba/Greater Springfield merged boys side achieved a convincing victory against Sandgate Red with a final score 61-26.
Ty and Oliver were crowned players of the match, with Oliver also credited for scoring three goals.
The match was clinched following a strong defensive tackling game from the players.
The under 13 Jimboomba girls side were defeated by Everton in a home game on Sunday.
Both teams used the windy conditions to their advantage, but Everton proved too strong winning 47-27.
Jimboomba goal scorers included Teagan Dare, Taneka Dhadlie and Tej Sandhu.
Ila Streeter and Teagan Dare were awarded the best on ground title.
The under 12 Jimboomba boys faced Jindalee Yellow on Sunday.
Jimboomba went into the final quarter with a 13 point lead which was narrowed after a strong late forward line game by Jindalee.
The Redbacks won the tight game 36-28.
Players of the match were Jarrett Wilson and Cooper Manning.
Wilson consistently demonstrated a strong running game while Manning’s leadership in the forward line and encouragement of team mates proved decisive.
The under 10 Jimboomba side played their first home game against Calamvale Blue and were congratulated for their dedication.
