GEORGIA Ward almost broke a personal record when she joined a five kilometre fun run staged during the Commonwealth Games.
The Emmaus College year nine student was one of 6600 non-competitive runners who joined the challenge staged during the official marathon.
Georgia was just three seconds short of her best five kilometre run time, completing the track in 20 minutes and 55 seconds.
“I nearly got a personal best time so I was really happy,” she said.
“Anyone could do it. You just had to find out it was on and register online.
“The people who walked were at the back and I was up the front.”
Australia won 80 gold medals, 59 silver medals and 59 bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games which ended on April 15.
