INFANTS as young as 12 weeks are already training to become the athletes of the future at Jimboomba.
The Jimboomba Gymnastics club have embraced the concept of babynastics to promote early physical, emotional and mental development.
Babies aged three to eight months can participate in 30 minute caterpillar classes which focuses on fine motor skills such as reaching and grasping.
Jimboomba Gymnastics Club coach Madonna Farrow said babies were already reaping the benefits of the program.
“Babynastics creates the stepping stones for a child's fundamental skills,” she said.
“The classes enhance social and emotional participation not only by exercising the body but also the brain.
“Babies have attended classes with Cerebral Palsy, hemiplegia and other medical development issues and it is amazing to see the improvements and confidence these children gain from babynastics.”
Babynastics classes are held at the Jimboomba Gymnastics Club on Wednesday mornings from 9.15am.
Bookings are required for babies to attend classes.
