GLENEAGLE resident Georgina Bayly has been crowned as this year’s South East Sub Chamber Miss Showgirl.
Ms Bayly, who has represented the Scenic Rim as the Beaudesert Show Society Miss Showgirl since June last year, received her South East Sub Chamber Miss Showgirl sash on March 24 at Beenleigh Showgrounds.
The 23-year-old underwent a rigorous interview process with a panel of three judges who selected her to rein as the south-east representative for the next 12 months.
Ms Bayly said she was thrilled to take on a higher role as it would be one step closer to fulfilling her final showgirl goal.
“When I started my Miss Showgirl journey I did not even think I would become Beaudesert's representative, so to take on the south-east sash is a real highlight,” she said.
“I really hope to be a role model to young women throughout my community and for any who one day wish to take on the Miss Showgirl role for their local show society.”
Ms Bayly has already begun her duties as the south-east representative by attending events like Beaudesert Show Society Campdraft Junior competition and Beaudesert’s Shared Fires Commonwealth Games event.
Reflecting on her showgirl journey, she said she was proud of what she had achieved so far.
“Being the Beaudesert Show Society Miss Showgirl has been a rewarding experience allowing me to interact with new people and connect with the community in a more meaningful way,” she said.
“I have been lucky enough to attend multiple events including last year's sub chamber judging, the Beaudesert Show, Glen Innes Show, Eat Local Week events and Jimboomba Relay for Life.
“I even took my sash around Europe through my own campaign of #tourdeshowgirl.”
Ms Bayly said by taking her sash global she hoped to raise the profile of the Miss Showgirl competition and acknowledge young women in agricultural communities.
The determined showgirl now has her eyes set on competing for the title of Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl at the Ekka in August.
Ms Bayly will be up against 10 other sub chamber Miss Showgirl winners who will undergo a judging and public speaking process before attending a gala dinner for the position.
